The Macau Meetings, Incentives & Special Events Association (MISE), has begun its Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) programme with a workshop powered by the Events Industry Council. The workshop took place Wednesday, May 9, at the Venetian Macau, with about 30 local industry professionals participating.
The CMP programme aims to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals; promote the status and credibility of the meeting profession; and advance uniform standards of practice.
The workshop was an introductory session and included information about what a CMP is, the steps to become a CMP, how and what you need to apply, study tips, exam booking and other details.
According to Bruno Simoes, secretary of MISE and a CMP since 2012, “the CMP education programme presented in Macau is in line with our Association’s objectives to foster the MICE industry through educational initiatives.”
The workshop was conducted by Ana Marques, the most recently accredited CMP in Macau and one of only six currently working in the territory.
MISE will be working on this objective throughout 2018 with the aim to get more CMPs in Macau after exams taking place in January and May 2019. During 2018, MISE is organising a monthly workshop for study groups to exchange progress and ideas about knowledge necessary to prepare for the exam.
