Benjamin Condit is promoted from head of strategy at Mindshare China to chief strategy officer. Previously within Mindshare, he held senior digital and strategy roles, including digital lead for Team L'Oréal, responsible for brands including L'Oréal Paris, Lancome, and Maybelline.
Production company The Sweet Shop appointed Kate Neill as director of communications. Based in Melbourne, she will lead the company’s internal and external communications globally. Neill was most recently APAC director of communications at DDB and is also a Campaign Asia-Pacific alum.
Mirum Hong Kong has added three to its senior management team: Michael Li as project director, Tony Cheung as business account director and Justin Foo as strategic business director. The trio are expected to accelerate Mirum’s regional business development across the region with the agency already enjoying recent new client wins such as Fendi, Prudential and Towngas.
Jeroen Fermie joined MSLGroup as general manager in Vietnam. He was previously executive director of PR for TBWA\Group Vietnam.
APAC Effie named Anthony Wong, worldwide effectiveness director at Ogilvy & Mather Group and global client leader, Team Huawei of WPP, as the 2017 awards chairman.
Grey Hong Kong appointed the agency’s Melbourne ECD Michael Knox as chief creative officer, replacing Keith Ho who moved to Beijing to take on the role of group CEO this August. Knox will report to fellow Australian Sarah Trombetta, who is CEO of the Hong Kong office.
Alibaba hired Adam Najberg as head of digital media. Prior to this move, Najberg was DJI’s global director of communications for just over a year. He reports to Erica Matthews, head of corporate relations at Alibaba, and will be based in Hong Kong.
Brian Liu (刘文波) is UM China’s new hire, as business director for digital based in Shanghai. Liu will drive digital-centric thinking and lead synergy across planning and other strategic business units to prepare for new business pitches.Previously, he spent almost three years at Isobar China, serving on the Adidas and Coca-Cola teams.
Yeah1 Network appointed Jonathan Wong as chief operations officer. With a background in entrepreneurship and creative agency, Wong will contribute in brand management, digital touch points and analytics.
Carat China appointed Jenny Yang (杨美娟) as managing director of data and strategy. She will be leading Carat’s specialist teams including Convergence Planning, Data & Insights, Digital Strategy and Client Solutions. Yang joins Carat from iClick Interactive Advertising where she was VP of strategy planning.
WINS
Y&R Group Indonesia announced four major new business wins. A team effort between Y&R and VML sees Pizza Hut Delivery award the group its branding, above-the-line and digital duties following a multi-agency pitch. Creative-focused wins see Y&R appointed to handle UOB Bank’s credit card repositioning and Vivo’s launch of its new V5 smartphone. Existing client Mayora Group, one of Indonesia’s biggest FMCG companies, has added biscuit brand Slai Olai to Y&R’s existing portfolio of brands including Beng Beng, Roma Wafer and Kopiko.
PT Puncak Finansial Utama has named J. Walter Thompson Jakarta as AOR for CekAja.com, an online supermarket for financial and insurance products. The agency won the mandate in a competitive pitch against nine other agencies and is tasked with creating integrated and multi-phase branding campaigns across digital and offline channels.
DatViet VAC Media Vietnam (DVM) was named media AoR for upcoming Electrolux Vietnam campaigns, following a multi-agency pitch the client initiated two months ago. The agency will handle media strategy, planning and buying on both TV and digital media.
