OMD Hong Kong has successfully won a much larger media remit with Estée Lauder, following a competitive pitch.
While OMD previously worked only with the Estée Lauder brand (Hong Kong and Macau), the expanded mandate now extends media planning and buying duties to include the remaining 13 brands in the cosmetics firm's portfolio of makeup, skin care and fragrance brands.
These include Bobbi Brown, Origins, Clinique, Tom Ford Beauty, Lab Series, MAC, Glamglow, Too Faced, La Mer, Darphin, Jo Malone London, By Kilian and Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle.
The two-year appointment, which is already in effect from July 2019 came following a pitch that Campaign understands involved OMD prevailing over Havas and MediaCom in the final round.
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with OMD," Vicki Au, managing director of Estée Lauder (Hong Kong) said in a release, citing the agency's technology capabilities and local knowledge of the the Hong Kong market.
“It’s a real honour to have our remit expanded and take on greater responsibilities for some of the world’s most prestigious brands," added OMD Hong Kong managing director, Gary Wong.
OMG agencies have a long history with Estée Lauder in Hong Kong. Back in 2011, the former CEO of PHD Hong Kong, even fronted an Estee Lauder ad himself.
