OMD led 2018 HK media billings: COMvergence report

OMD led Hong Kong media agencies in billings through 2018, while GroupM came out on top in terms of media-agency groups, according to a newly released report from COMvergence.

Total billings by the major agencies reached US$1.116 billion, showing 6% growth over 2017, according to the company. COMvergence’s report is produced by calculating the billings from Hong Kong’s top 500 advertisers who spend over US$1 million annually on media communications.

OMD's sister Omnicom Media Group (OMG) agency PHD joined OMD on the agency table, just behind GroupM's Mindshare, with Dentsu Aegis Network's Carat and GroupM's Wavemaker rounding out the top five.

“Hong Kong has always been a market that feels like 'home' to OMG," Tony Harradine, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Asia Pacific, said in a release. "It is where OMD opened its first office in the world back in 1998. It is so impressive and heartwarming to see that two decades later, the agency is still at the top of its game as Hong Kong’s leading media agency. Additionally, PHD has proven itself as a force to be reckoned with.”
