SINGAPORE - Mobile-advertising network operator Out There Media has hired Gerald Smith as Asia-Pacific managing director as it looks to expand its presence in the region.

The company, which claims to reach 500 million mobile subscribers, is headquartered in Vienna and has offices in Singapore, Jakarta, Manila, and Kuala Lumpur, in addition to several European cities and New York.

Smith has 15 years of experience in Europe and Asia, most recently with global television and digital production company Endemol. In that role he was responsible for setting up the company's digital business across Asia. working with brands and agencies on branded-content activities. He has been based in Asia for the past seven years.

Out There Media said the appointment is intended to help meet increasing demand for its offerings regionally and expand its client base of brands across a variety of sectors and markets.

Kerstin Trikalitis, CEO and co-founder of Out There Media, said that Smith's experience in digital media and multi-platform strategy will help the company move further forward in a region that has growing strategic importance. 

"In an increasingly demanding and competitive market, experience, innovation, and multiplicity of approach will be key to moving forward," Smith said.
