Ray Wong, CEO of PHD Hong Kong, confirmed the news and said his team has worked on the Wing On Travel account for over five years.

Hong Thai Travel is one of Wing On Travel's key competitors in the travel industry. However, Wong pointed out that the client is facing strong competition from travel agencies as well as independent travellers.

In April, Ctrip.com International, a leading online travel agent in China, acquired a 90 per cent stake in HKWOT, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wing On Travel for US$88 million.

Wing On Travel is a household name and was established in 1964 in Hong Kong. It has 20 branches in Hong Kong with overseas offices in Macau, Canada and the UK. It offers services including travel agency, flight tickets, cruise and hotel reservation and package tours and study tours for students.

Wing On Travel is the latest addition to PHD's current travel and tourism's client portfolio, which includes Grand Hyatt and Macau City of Dreams.
