R3 makes senior hires from Avon, XM Asia

SHANGHAI - Independent consulting firm R3 has appointed three senior consultants in the region: Carrie Zheng and Calvin Liao in Shanghai and Mel Teh in Singapore.

The company also appointed Mary Moudry as a senior consultant in San Francisco. 

“We see opportunities to grow in China, in digital and in technology, and these four senior hires help us to achieve that," said Greg Paull, R3 principal. "They bring a combined 80 years of client-side and agency-side experience to our team, so we feel confident we are adding talent at the right level."

Zheng joins after six years at Avon China as director of creative and communications, which followed 10 years at agencies including Ogilvy and Saatchi & Saatchi. She will lead a variety of China projects for major brands including Johnson & Johnson, Adidas and Sands. "To truly offer insights on improving effectiveness, we need more talent like Carrie with deep experience on both sides of the fence,” Paull said. 

Teh joins to lead global and regional digital consulting. Prior to R3 she was with WPP’s XM Asia as global business director on Singapore Tourism and other clients. She also has client-side experience with American Express. “Mel understands the key issues clients are facing on digital and social—this is an uncertain future and independent guidance in this area is crucial.” said Paull.

Liao, who will lead brand-engagement research and other initiatives, spent the last three years at research firm ORC International and has prior Greater China experience at Nielsen, Ipsos, Millward Brown and Heineken. “We’re very fortunate to have such an experienced and well-balanced research lead on our China and US Brand Engagement study,” Paull said. "As more and more funds are invested online, marketers need to improve the dialogue with consumers to measure and benchmark their success."

Moudry, who will head the company's West Coast office joins from DDB, where she was president and CEO of DDB West, heading global assignments for Clorox, J&J and ConAgra Foods.
