Jansen will hand over the day-to-day running of SPH Search to vice-president of sales and marketing Johnson Goh who will be re-designated as the general manager.
Jansen, 57, was appointed chief executive of SPH Search in September 2006 and launched Rednano.sg on 18 March 2008. The company has seen strong growth in revenue and usage in number of searches and has won four regional and international awards for consumer innovation.
Jansen joined The Straits Times newspaper in 1975 as a journalist. Over the years, he has held a variety of editorial positions, including editor of daily newspaper Streats, which was merged with Today.
He was also responsible for putting The Straits Times online in 1995 when there were only a handful of print newspapers on the web, helmed the main nightly newscasts as presenter when SPH launched its own TV news operation in 2001 and was a key member of the project team which won a bid in 1994 for a mobile telephony licence, ending the monopoly of Singapore Telecom, and resulting in the launch of M1.
