The partnership sees Tudou gaining video search function through Tencent's vertical search brand Soso.

Apart from the usual search results filters for length, recency and hosting sources, the platform is enhanced with functions like personal search keyword history, popular keyword buzz charts and top videos by categories.

"Tudou focuses on users, and we continue to innovate ways to simplify users' tasks in finding what they want to watch online," said Gary Wang, founder and CEO of Tudou.

Wang added: "Even with more than 36 million videos on Tudou, there are a lot more videos to search out there on the web that we are now enabled by working with Tencent Soso's one-stop video search solution."

As part of the commitment to create more user engagement, Tudou is reported to have shared copyrights with Youku to air films and television shows online in February this year.
