Cheil and Digitas take home top honours at Kam Fan Awards 2024

Hong Kong’s biggest night in advertising celebrated bold creativity and industry excellence, with top honours awarded across agencies and brands. Here’s a breakdown of the key winners.

Cathay Pacific was named Client of the Year, while a campaign by Cheil Hong Kong, titled 'The Sound of Violence' for Save the Children, won the Grand Award at Monday night's Kam Fan Awards 2024, presented by the HK4As.

For the winning campaign, in addition to the Grand Kam Fan in the Film category (sub-categories: Webisode Campaign—Other Screens, Non-TV Broadcast Film, and Webisode Single), Cheil Hong Kong also received six gold, two silver, two bronze, and one merit award.

2024 Kam Fan jury chair Paco Conde, co-founder and ECD of Activista, commented: "When you're judging a local festival, it's not your market. The responsibility is significant because, as outsiders on the jury, we come from all over the world. As a result, we took on the responsibility of helping the local market move forward and raising the bar. It’s not just about recognising work—it’s about motivating the market to go further and improve."

Meanwhile, Cheil Hong Kong was named Creative Agency of the Year, while Digitas Hong Kong took home the Media Agency of the Year title.

The event, held at Wan Chai’s Hopewell Hotel, was attended by nearly 300 guests, including Kam Fan jury members, marketers, brand owners, creatives, agency practitioners, and university students.

Alejandro Canciobello, chairman of the 2024 Kam Fan Committee, remarked: "I know that everyone here understands that Kam Fan is a very special award—it signifies being the best of the best in Hong Kong. Good work isn’t about pushing for the sake of it or just to win an award; we must push ourselves to step outside our comfort zones. Let’s not forget that comfort leads to stagnation, and we must continue striving to create outstanding work—not only in Hong Kong, but beyond."

Established 41 years ago in 1984, the Kam Fan Awards were founded to elevate Hong Kong’s creative industry and celebrate outstanding work. At this year’s ceremony, a total of one Grand Kam Fan, 17 gold, 26 silver, 35 bronze, and 29 merit awards were presented.
