Ad Nut

Whether Mini or moto, driving seems like a dangerous drug

Dudes from opposite ends of the earth experience altered states in new vehicle ads for Mini and the Bajaj Discover.

Ad Nut doesn't drive human vehicles, for reasons that should be obvious. And perhaps it's a good thing, because according to two new ads, the experience can have decidedly odd effects on the driver. Or maybe it's only guys that are vulnerable. Ad Nut is not sure.

In India (above) a rider of Bajaj Auto's Discover model reverts to a boyish and apparently criminal mentality, causing him to steal items of fruit and wantonly ignore rules that surely forbid motorcyles on pedestrian walkways. And stairways.

Meanwhile, in California (below), a hipster-y fellow goes on a, um, trip, in a convertible Mini. The hallucinatory effects brought on by driving the soft-top cause him to hear the thoughts of not only animals but former animals that are now being cooked as food for humans, as well as a few inanimate objects. Ad Nut advises the gentleman to pull over and find a nice quiet place to sit until the effects wear off.

The Bajaj ad is by Mullen Lintas and the Mini work is by Jung von Matt/SPREE.
