Ambient Media teams up with Petronas

KUALA LUMPUR - Out-of-home agency Ambient Media has inked a media partnership deal with fuel-company Petronas Malaysia to sell on-premise and in-store space at some 600 of convenience stores located in petrol service stations.

"Ambient created the concept of making ad space available within the premises of a petrol station back in August 2006 when we noticed that petrol stations were high traffic spots, ideal for targeting consumers on the go," said Loke Chui Teng, Ambient Media’s sales and marketing manager.

According to Loke, Petronas has the highest number of fuel stations across the country and offers the best reach for potential clients. Out of about 1000 service stations nationwide, over 600 are equipped with Mesra convenience stores, where in-store advertising is available. He says ads can run on refrigerators, floors, windows and walls. Clients will be able to customise the exact stations and places for their advertisements.

The cost for clients, said Loke, is a fraction of billboard advertising.

So far, clients who have advertised with Ambient Media at Petronas stations include telecommunications operator Celcom, Fraser & Neave (F&N) and Nestle.
