SHANGHAI - Omnicom Media Group has promoted Arlene Ang, most recently CEO for digital at OMG China, to CEO of OMD China, succeeding SiewPing Lim.

Campaign Asia-Pacific reported Lim’s resignation earlier this month.

Based in Shanghai, Ang (pictured) will lead OMD’s three China offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, serving major clients including Johnson & Johnson, Intel, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile, Yili, McDonalds and Apple.

A Singapore native, Ang has more than 20 years’ experience in traditional and digital advertising, CRM, social and mobile. She has been working in China since the 1990s.

Ang joined OMD Beijing as MD in 2010 and led the Intel business. She was promoted to China CEO for digital at OMG in 2011, where she has been responsible for building the agency's digital capabilities and creating business units across search, mobile, programmatic buying and social.

The company has not named a replacement.

Before OMD Beijing, Ang launched her own digital marketing agency, AdXplorer, which developed into a network of eight offices across Asia Pacific before Publicis acquired it in 2004. She then helped Publicis to build its digital offering with Publicis Modem.

“[Ang] has done an amazing job of creating our digital assets and she is well regarded by our clients and staff, which will help her transition into the new role with ease,” said Doug Pearce, Greater China CEO of Omnicom Media Group. She is the perfect choice to ensure OMG clients maximize the potential of the China media marketplace as it continues shifting toward digital and ecommerce, he added.
