As the Greater China CEO, Chiu (pictured) will be responsible for creating greater synergies across offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing.

Specifically, Chiu will focus on further deepening the agency's expertise in auto, real estate, finance, retail and IT. Currently, the agency's clients in these sectors include Shanghai General Motors, Cheung Kong, Vanke, HSBC, Café De Coral, Pizza Hut, Remy Martin, Heineken and Fuji Xerox among others.

He will also develop specialist talents with advanced skills in areas like digital and social networking, who are transferable within the Greater China region.

"Conrad is our ultimate change agent and the best person for the job. He has a successful and consistent track record delivering innovation for clients and our agency," said Jeffrey Yu, chairman of Bates 141 Asia.

Chiu has more than 20 years' experience in marketing communications across different sectors in Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Bates 141, he was a founding member of Market Catalyst, which became Hong Kong's largest independent local agency within three years. The company subsequently became part of Bates 141 in 2004.

Before Market Catalyst, Conrad was MD of JWT Hong Kong and South China, where he led the company through a critical transition, from a leading mass media advertising agency to a total brand communications company.
