BBDO/Proximity Malaysia appoints Richmond Walker as ECD

KUALA LUMPUR - BBDO/Proximity Malaysia has appointed Richmond Walker as its executive creative director. Walker will succeed Mun Tuck Wai, who is leaving to pursue a career overseas.

BBDO/Proximity Malaysia group CEO Jennifer Chan said that the agency appointed Walker after combing the market for an experienced candidate who is primed to take on the agency's creative helm.

She said: "We are thrilled to have Walker on board. Moving forward, his international experience will certainly give not only the agency, but its clients, an edge. 

Walker was formerly the creative director at Ogilvy & Mather Malaysia, prior to which he worked in its Vietnam offices.  On the back of strong client relationships, he has forged a reputation for delivering ground breaking work for some the world's biggest clients, including Coca-Cola, Unilever and Nestlé. 

An award-winning creative, Walker has won several International and local awards for major brands including Panadol and Milo.  In his most recent role, Walker lead the creative for Nestlé's Milo Brand, and for all disciplines across the Maxis account.

"I'm joining BBDO with a remit to maintain a reputation for creative excellence, and to continue a career building great brands," Walker said.

In a separate development, BBDO/Proximity Singapore's Pebble Goh will relocate to BBDO New York as senior art director.

Goh worked first at BBDO Malaysia and now Singapore on clients such as Gillette, KFC, Pepsi, Quaker, Mercedes, ICI Dulux, Panasonic, Fonterra and in 2006 won the Young Creative award at the Malaysian Advertising Awards, locally known as the Kancils.

Danny Searle, chief creative officer and chairman of BBDO/Proximity Singapore, commented that Pebble is one of the young creatives who joins a list of people benefiting from an on-going strategy to develop talent and offer the best career opportunities in the industry.

Goh will be start her new position in New York this August.
