The new company, Canon Marketing Vietnam Company, is fully owned by Canon Singapore and has been established with the aim of creating an import, distribution, sales and service system for Canon products in Vietnam.

Noriji Yoshida has been appointed as the president and legal representative of the new 40-strong office, which is expected to start operation next month.

The expansion is on the back of Vietnam's transition into a market economy and it integration into the international economic system. The government’s economic open-door policy and domestic-demand expansion policies has allowed the country to achieve economic growth approaching 6 per cent over the past few years, with further expansion expected in the future.

Canon currently has representative offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, which were established in 2002 and 2003, respectively. Canon Marketing Vietnam Company will gradually take over the responsibilities currently handled by the existing representative offices to develop Canon's presence and services to customers in Vietnam more directly and progressively.

The brand also currently operates Canon Vietnam Co Ltd, which manufactures products such as inkjet printers and laser printers, as well as Canon Electronics Vietnam, which manufactures other electronic devices.

The electronics brand also aims to further expand its market share within industries, including production printing and motion-picture and broadcasting production.
