Lyden joined The Swire Group as part of its shipping division in 2000 from M&C Saatchi Hong Kong where he was in account management. He has held the post of country manager since 2005, and has been in charge of revenue management.

He replaces Simon Large who has been promoted to the airline's director of cargo. Large's new role takes effect this summer and he will be responsible for all aspects of the group's cargo business worldwide, including operations, marketing and sales. Large has held the post of marketing GM since 2012 and has been with the Swire group since 1991.

Along with this move, Cathay Pacific has also promoted Paul Loo from his role as GM of China to director of corporate development; and Tom Owen from SVP of the Americas to director people.
