Converse Singapore has hired VML to help drive the brand’s digital efforts, with a focus on social media. The agency has been tasked with growing the conversation about the brand across digital channels, with a focus on Singaporean millennials.

Founded in 1908, Converse—a subsidiary of Nike since it was purchased in 2003 for a reported $305 million—sells its footwear and other items globally through retailers in over 160 countries. Over the years, it has been known for its distinct Star Insignia and its sneakers have become a symbol of alternative fashion globally.

Converse Singapore currently boasts over 48,000 likes on its Facebook page and just over 300 followers on its Twitter account @conversesg.

Commenting on the appointment, Xiaohui, digital marketing manager for Converse Singapore said the brand was looking to maximise social media to gain a “competitive edge over other brands in the industry.”

Adding: “Social media channels such as Facebook are an important channel of communication with our consumers.”

Tripti Lochan, CEO of VML said “Converse is a top of line, trendy sneakers brand since the early 20th century. We are very excited to work with the brand in its endeavour to grow in Singapore.”
