‘one2free Musicholic x EEG Virtual Singing Contest 2010' marks the first time EEG is looking for new talent through an online audition. The virtual event will be hosted on the Musicholic platform. The contest will end on 31 August.
People interested in taking a ‘fast track' to fame, are asks to register at Musicholic for a fee of HK$1 for one month's access to all Musicholic content, as well as the full upload, viewing and voting for the music contest through mobile and personal computers.
The contest is open to all people aged 15 to 28 residing in Hong Kong. Participants can upload up to five mintues of video with a self-introduction and performance. Ten people will remain after two rounds of eliminations by a panel of CSL and EEG judges. The finalists will get an opportunity to train with local mega stars Joey Yung and Leo Ku for the contest finale. The contest is open to public voting and the final winner will be awarded a contract with EEG.
Mark Liversidge, chief marketing officer of CSL Limited, is expecting "thousands of people" to join the contest. "Musicholic is currently the number one music content site in Hong Kong," he said.
CEO of CSL Joseph O'Konek also added that this event proves the telco's commitment to creating more convergence within different media. "This singing contest will broaden the horisons of one2free Musicholic from viewing and sharing music content to playing a direct role in the music world."
The project also works together with Sina, the leading internet portal in China, to promote the event. Micro-blogging service Sina Weibo is dedicating a page to news, updates and footage from the contest.
