Dentsu Vietnam appoints general director

HO CHI MINH CITY - Dentsu Asia has named Gaku Shinoda (pictured) as general director of Dentsu Vietnam, effective immediately.

Dentsu Vietnam appoints general director

Shinoda was most recently the vice president of Dentsu Malaysia, responsible for securing and growing Japanese clients, namely Toyota, Lexus, Kao, Canon, Sharp and AEON.

In his new role he will be tasked with managing Dentsu Vietnam, while setting the strategic direction to grow the business. He will report to Dick van Motman, CEO of Dentsu Asia.

Shinoda’s aim is to grow Dentsu Vietnam into a flagship office of international quality that can be home to be both the Japanese and non-Japanese accounts. Among its key Japanese accounts in Vietnam are Toyota and Canon.

Motman said Vietnam is a key market for the network, pointing to its multiple operations in the market, including Dentsu Alpha and Dentsu Media.

“Dentsu Vietnam will have to play a key role... and selecting the right person to lead that operation was paramount," he said. "We believe that in Shinoda we got that person as he embodies the new Dentsu spirit mixing Japanese and international qualities with an exploring and collaborative attitude.”

A journalism graduate from Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan, Shinoda has 10 years of advertising experience from Dentsu Asia, Dentsu Singapore and Dentsu Malaysia.

“I am excited to take on this challenge to head the Vietnam office and work together with the team to develop the business in this young and rapidly growing market in the Asia region,” Shinoda said.
