DraftFCB Shanghai charges JWT veteran Andy Chan as ECD

SHANGHAI - DraftFCB Shanghai has hired JWT's award-winning creative veteran Andy Chan as ECD in charge of the agency's beauty care accounts. The appointment is effective on 10 November.

Chan will be responsible for Beiersdorf's international and local brands including long-term global client Nivea for Men.

Chan has over 20 years of ad industry experience and has developed a deep understanding of the Chinese and Asian markets. He has worked for JWT Shanghai over the last decade in charge of the Unilever regional creative account as well as DTC De Beers. Before this, he served as creative director at Leo Burnett Hong Kong and JWT Hong Kong.

"Beauty care talents are hard to find. We treasure Andy's accumulated expertise in the beauty and luxury arena," said Pully Chau, chairman and CEO, Greater China. "I am confident his experience and leadership will take our Beiersdorf client and other upscale business to new heights."

The agency cited that men's grooming products are experiencing exponential growth in Asia, with a sales increase of almost 31 per cent in 2009 compared to 2008.

Among his numerous creative awards, Chan received China's first ever Gold at Clio for the Saridon 'Splitting headache' outdoor poster campaign in 2005. Other honors include Effie Awards, Longxi Awards, Times Awards, Moebius, Spikes, One Show, China 4As and HK 4As, Workbook, Communication Arts and Cannes finalist.
