Facebook prohibits Twitter app from finding friends

GLOBAL – Facebook is reported to have blocked a Twitter application that allows people to find their friends with through Twitter on Facebook.

Josh Elman, product manager at Twitter, confirmed the news on his blog saying, "We believe this is an issue on Facebook's end." The new Twitter application was launched on 23 June but returned an error the next day.

A spokesperson from Facebook is already looking into resolving the issue, according the Cnet.

The initiate purpose of the new application is to answer the frequent requests from users seeking ways to find and follow the people they are connected to, according to Elman.

The same Twitter application is also embedded into LinkedIn. The partnership between the two social media platforms began in May 2010.

The news comes just one month after Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, addressed privacy issues surrounding the social media giant in May.
