FD was acquired by FTI Consulting in 2006, and has worked alongside the financial consulting firm as its strategic communications arm. It worked with both FTI clients and outside organisations, offering services such as reputation protection and management, and communication strategy, advice and execution during major corporate events, such as merger and acquisition activity.

Jim Kelly, head of Asia Pacific, Strategic Communications, says the brand allignment will further help what is now the strategic communications practice within FTI Consulting grow its business in Asia and beyond.

“By integrating the two businesses under one brand, our firm benefits from being a key part of a global network that brings together more than 3,700 people across 22 countries, focused exclusively on enhancing enterprise value,” he said. “Through FTI Consulting, and its broad range of consulting services, we also can provide a broader response to the trends and issues affecting the way companies do business today.”

The Asia-Pacific region will be the first FD business unit to migrate into the FTI Consulting fold, but the remaining regions are likely to follow suit over the next 12 months.

Ed Reilly, global CEO of Financial Dynamics, was equally pleased about the move. "We are excited about the changes taking place in our business and believe that becoming part of the FTI Consulting brand will further strengthen our ability to help our clients navigate mission-critical issues," he told staff in an internal memo. "We appreciate your support throughout this transition and look forward to continued success providing our clients with world-class strategic communications counsel and unrivaled business expertise."
