Glacéau's vitaminwater moves to McCann in Japan

TOKYO - Coca Cola subsidiary Glacéau is believed to have appointed McCann Erickson to handle creative and below-the-line duties for its vitaminwater soft drink brand in Japan following a pitch.

The account was previously split between Ogilvy and G2. Representatives from McCann Erickson and Ogilvy declined to confirm or comment on the development; G2 did not respond to Media’s enquiry at press time.

An agency source close to the pitch claimed that vitaminwater had been “unhappy” with the previous arrangement, but did not elaborate. The brand launched in Japan last July, with an experiential concept store in Harajuku, Tokyo.

vitaminwater is a soft drink range of vitamin-enhanced flavoured water developed in the US in 1996. It is aimed predominantly at health-conscious consumers and sports enthusiasts. Parent company Glacéau operates under The Coca Cola Company.
