SINGAPORE - Hootsuite has appointed Rich Meiklejohn as its first general manager in the region, nearly two years after ex-MD Ken Mandel left the company.

Meiklejohn will oversee growth and performance across Asia Pacific. He will also drive expansion across Singapore, Australia, Taiwan, India, Korea, China, Japan and Indonesia.

“APAC is a diverse market with its own social executives and influencers in each market,” Meiklejohn told Campaign Asia-Pacific. “The region is increasingly becoming a driver of change for social platforms. As e-commerce spending rises, platforms such as Facebook are bolstering their support with new features to better showcase products.”

Meiklejohn has 25 years of Asia-Pacific experience in software, media and consulting. Prior to joining Hootsuite, he managed key partnerships for Cognos. He has also led operations for eGain and Zafin in Asia-Pacific and was a partner at Heidrick & Struggles.

The new GM will report to Hootsuite’s senior vice president of sales, Bob Elliott.
