Stewart is moving to Converse headquarters near Boston to take up the role starting in September.

An Australia native, Stewart has been heavily involved in youth lifestyle products and marketing around the region for the past two decades. He was formerly head of Asia at social network Friendster as well as senior vice-president of MTV networks and Viacom Brand Solutions for Asia-Pacific. He has also worked for Coca-Cola, Ogilvy, and his own youth agency Filter, which he sold in 2006.

The company has not yet named a replacement.

Jack Purcell is one of three brand segments of Converse, including Converse, Jack Purcell and Chuck Taylor All Star. In 2003, Nike bought Converse for around $305 million.

John Edward "Jack" Purcell was a Canadian world champion badminton player who was declared the world champion in 1933. He retired in 1945, and designed an athletic shoe that bore his name. Converse bought the trademark rights to Jack Purcell sneakers in the 1970s.
