PR agency Current Global has made a round of senior appointments to its Asia-Pacific leadership teams while officially announcing its Chinese co-market leads.

Shashikant Someshwar now takes on pan-regional responsibilities as senior vice president of business operations for Asia Pacific, in addition to his role as managing director of Current India, which he has held for over five years. The agency employs more than 50 staff in Mumbai and Delhi.

Meanwhile in China, vice presidents Carrie Wu in Beijing and Cherry Tao in Shanghai now serve as co-market leads after beginning their shared leadership on November 1. The pair has been tasked with developing Current’s local offer and building on the significant recent growth in the market.  Wu will lead the agency’s corporate and technology practices, while Tao will head up the Chinese consumer marketing practice.

"Carrie and Cherry bring experience working on complex global assignments, as well as deep local market knowledge," said George Coleman, Current Global's joint-CEO, in a release. "With Shashikant’s proven entrepreneurial skills supporting them in the region, we’re looking forward to growing another stronghold of our business."

Current Global is a mid-sized global agency formed by the merger of Current Marketing and Creation in April 2019.
