M1 joins two other telcos in the fray by launching Pay-TV service

SINGAPORE – Mobile telco M1 is rolling out a new pay-TV service from today, with a new advertising campaign from Y&R set for tomorrow.

M1’s new 1box multimedia service is aimed at the younger set, and includes interactive-learning programmes from educational publisher Marshall Cavendish.

Aside from this, it will also offer internet, films, celebrity concerts, games and fun learning modules via high-speed.

According to a company statement, “1box will bring the world wide web and an array of compelling content and services to the TV screens of M1 Home Broadband customers.”

1box is being offered as a value-added service with a lifestyle and entertainment focus for M1’s Fibre, Cable and ADSL Home Broadband customers.

Customers can subscribe to the content services on a monthly subscription basis while film content will be charged on a pay-per-view basis.

P. Subramaniam, chief marketing officer of M1, said that with its wide range of TV Internet and content capability, 1Box will provide many hours of entertainment for the whole family.

“Most importantly, it will enable customers to get more out of their current M1 Home Broadband service,” he said, adding that 1box is one of many innovative services from M1 will leverage on for their ultra-fast fibre broadband service that was launched on the Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network.

Y&R handles M1’s advertising and creative work while OMD will be in charge of media placement until December, following which Zenith Optimedia will be its media partner.

The print ad is slated to be featured in the this Saturday's Straits Times.
