Media veteran Terence Tung joins top management of Modern Media Group

HONG KONG - Hong Kong-listed Modern Media Group has welcomed 28-year media industry veteran Terence Tung as group vice-president and publisher of Bloomberg Businessweek in Hong Kong and Taiwan, which will be launched in June.

Tung joined on 14 January. His key responsibilities will be the business management and development of Bloomberg Businessweek's Hong Kong and Taiwan editions, and the management of sales and marketing in Southern China. He will report to Thomas Shao and Leo Wong, chairman and CEO of the group, respectively.

This is a newly created position in line with the group's development. "With Tung's extensive media experience in Greater China, we are sure that he can help Modern Media Group’s further development," its press statement says.

Modern Media Group was established in 1996 and is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Under its publishing portfolio, it has publications and magazines including City Magazine “號外” in Hong Kong, and 11 magazine titles in China, including Modern Weekly 周末画报, Numero and Businessweek.

Tung's prolific career in the media field began in 1984. During his years at One Media Group, he was also appointed to be the chairman of the Society of Publishers in Asia.

Prior to that, He worked for the Ming Pao Group in 1998 and was appointed CEO and executive director of One Media Group (also a listed media company in Hong Kong).

In his early career, he was general manager and executive director of Metropolitan Publications.
