The 87-year-old publication is operated by Haymarket Media Group in the UK. In China, it will be published monthly under licence by Chengdu-based SFW Group, in cooperation with Sichuan Far East Standard Investment and Management (SCFESI).  The latter aims to bring international business projects to China and specifically to Sichuan province.

The first issue will have a print run of 10,000 copies and will be priced at the equivalent of US$2.85. The magazine will include a similar mix of news and features as in the UK to give Chinese readers in the early years and childcare sector an insight into the latest pracice and policy from overseas.

Xin Cao, chief executive of SCFESI, noted in a statement that the sector had seen rapid growth in recent years. “The industry here will benefit greatly from an independent source of news and information originating from the West, which will help both those working in the sector and parents who want to ensure the best possible start in life for their child as they look to combine the best of local and international practices,” he said.

Further international rollouts of Nursery World are expected in the near future.
