According to sources, at least five agencies are believed to be in the run to secure what is known to be one of the largest media buying accounts in Asia.

This includes Mediabrands, Trapper MPG, Starcom Mediavest and Zenith Optimedia.

The media account of Petronas' diversified business is currently looked after by Mediavest for its corporate and motor sport and Zenith Optimedia for its retail.

Recently, Petronas reported a 60 per cent jump in its fiscal first-quarter profit ending 30 June 2010 to MYR 12.3 billion (US$4 billion) from MYR 7.7 billion (US$ 2.48 billion) a year earlier.

The media account is stated to be awarded in January 2011.
