Saatchi & Saatchi appoints 'creative quorum' for region, names CEO and ECD in Thailand

BANGKOK – Saatchi & Saatchi has made changes to its regional creative leadership following the announcement that Andy Greenaway is to depart, and has appointed Mark Cochrane as CEO and Joel Clement as ECD in Thailand.

Greenaway, Asia-Pacific regional creative director, is leaving Saatchi & Saatchi after eight years with the agency. Rather than appointing a single replacement, five ECDs in the region will collectively take on an expanded role.

This “Creative Quorum” will be responsible for the agencies’ creative success regionally, as well as for specific projects throughout the region as needed.

The five ECDs include: Joel Clement, promoted to ECD, Thailand; Damon Stapleton, ECD, Australia; Antonio Navas, ECD, New Zealand; Bruce Matchett, ECD, Singapore, Malaysia; and Andrew Petch, ECD, The Philippines.

The changes to the regional creative leadership team come as Saatchi & Saatchi Thailand announces the appointment of Cochrane as its CEO.

Cochrane moves from Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand, and was previously the European Business Director at TBWA\London on Mars Confectionary and at TBWA\Auckland where he led PlayStation and Adidas in Australia and New Zealand.

He said the focus for the agency going forward will be to help brands find their creative edge, to unlock the ‘the unreasonable power of creativity’.

“We want the agency to become the place new world thinkers and the creative community will join when ready to do their most magical, liberated and original thinking,” he said.

Meanwhile, Clement has 20 years of experience, working across the US market and Southeast Asia. He has spent the past 11 years in Thailand.

Clement said Cochrane’s arrival is the “missing piece” that will complete the rebirth of Saatchi Thailand.

“He’s looking at the big picture and has a sincere interest in all the important facets of our business: Clients, agency culture and creativity," Clement said.
