Developed by TBWA Hong Kong, the campaign aims to distinguish Standard Chartered
from other banks by positioning most banking offers as short term when they could be more sustainable and dependable.
With this thought in mind, the spot shows a disheartened girlfriend complaining that none of her relationships have been long term. It is after this saddened realisation that a Standard Chartered representative shows up and explains how he and the bank believe that “when it comes to a relationship, the longer the better”.
The ad was created through a collaboration between TBWA Hong Kong and DAN Hong Kong and combines television, cinema, outdoor, print and digital activation.
The campaign's release follows news that Standard Chartered is under investigation for illicit transactions linked to Iran. The bank faces the prospect of losing its New York state banking licence.
