SHANGHAI - Nivea has extended its digital relationship with TBWA in China with Tequila Digital, the agency's branded digital arm, winning the account for Nivea's Body brand following a competitive pitch.

Tequila Digital, which is the consolidated unit for all of TBWA’s digital operations in Asia-Pacific, pitched against two local agencies for the account.

The win extends TBWA’s relationship with Nivea in China as Agency.com, which is now part of Tequila Digital, continues as agency-of-record for Nivea’s Visage line.

The win adds to Tequila Digital’s portfolio in China.

Separately, the agency has been contracted to create the website for Shanghai Tang’s spring collection, and will also build sites for Pernod Ricard’s Ballantine’s whiskey brand and Whiskas.

“We are putting digital at the heart of the agency” said Eugene Chew, GM of digital at TBWA. “We have changed our internal processes, so digital can play a greater role in shaping the brand & campaign planning.”

The news comes the same day that TBWA announced that Tequila Digital Australia’s managing director Charles Clapshaw will be president of Tequila Digital in the Asia-Pacific region.

Last week, TBWA additionally announced that it would restructure its regional operations, creating a Greater China unit headed up by Ian Thubron.
