The appointment follows a five-way pitch against undisclosed agencies in April.

The account is for China CITIC’s upcoming major print media advertising campaign, including domestic and overseas markets.

Vizeum China said this marks the first time China CITIC Bank has employed an international agency for its media communications, as its business becomes more mature and internationalised.

China CITIC Bank is a listed company in both Shanghai and Hong Kong stock markets. It is the seventh largest domestic commercial bank in China with 700 branches nation-wide, and established business relationship in 128 countries around the world.

The agency reported that the bank's net profit growth in Q1 2011 was up to 50 per cent.

“To understand what the client needed and build upon this with strong communication is vital in our business,” said Amei Zheng, MD of Vizeum China. “We took our comprehensive knowledge of the client’s business and tailor-made the right strategy and capability in execution via our powerful network. These are the reasons for us to be the right partner for CITIC.”

Reported last Friday, Vizeum China also scooped Chinese grouping buying company Lashou.com's media planning and buying account.
