Youth Olympic Games appoints Ogilvy Public Relations for global communications brief

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) has appointed Ogilvy Public Relations as its PR agency partner to take on a global communications plan for the international multi-sport event.

The appointment was made following a competitive multi-agency pitch for the estimated S$1.9 million (US$1.35 million) account. The strength of the global Ogilvy network was also a key consideration in the appointment.

Ogilvy PR is expected to drive awareness and engagement among local and international audiences while also ramping up the profile of Singapore as a host city.

Targeting local and international media, Ogilvy PR will promote the Games to youths as well as would-be athletes, and non-athlete participants including coaches, parents and key stakeholders such as the International Olympic Committee.

A major event in the run-up to the Games would be the lighting of the Youth Olympic Flame. The torch-relay run will start off in Greece and journey to one city in Europe, Africa, America, Oceania and Asia before concluding at the Opening Ceremony of the Games in August.

Last year, the SYOGOC appointed McCann Worldgroup and ZenithOptimedia in Singapore as its marketing and media agency partners.
