Anmum TVC on hold pending investigation

KUALA LUMPUR: Fonterra Brands TVC for 'Anmum Essential Tanpa Gula Tambahan' (Anmum Essential, no added sugar) is on hold pending investigation for its claims that most growing up milk formulas contain up to 40 per cent extra sugar.

In the wake of the sugar price hike plus the government's attempt to curb sugar intake among the population particularly obesity among the young, this TVC makes a highly competitive claim which Fonterra says it will back to the hilt. 

According to the National Diabetes Association, in 2007 nearly 1.2 million people in Malaysia had diabetes and about 650,000 people were diagnosed that year. 

It is estimated that over two million Malaysians could be suffering from diabetes and up to half of them may not be aware of it. Diabetes remains one of the leading causes of deaths in the country.
