eBay asks Aussies to clear Sunday for sales, whatever it takes

AUSTRALIA - Through Havas Worldwide, eBay Australia this weekend launches a campaign that aims to help the online retailer 'own' a time when most retailers have already closed their doors: Sunday evening.

The time period is already eBay's busiest time, and the site intends to cement that leadership. In addition to all-day deals, eBay will also be introducing five-minute flash sales between 8 pm and 9 pm on Sundays.

"Delving into the shopping habits of Australians has given us the opportunity to develop a sales initiative that reflects the short burst and impulsive behaviour of our customers," Steve Brennen, eBay Australia’s director of marketing and Advertising sales, said in a release.

The four TVCs by Havas Worldwide Sydney and director Luke Shanahan of Robber’s Dog (above and below) show the lengths different bargain-hunters will go to in order to ensure they'll be able to take advantage of the sales. Their solutions include an alternatative to mowing the lawn, a very early Sunday supper and outright bribery.
