Motorola calls a pitch for its global advertising business.

The telecoms giant is in talks with non-roster agencies to work on global campaigns for its range of mobile devices.

It is expected that Motorola will appoint an agency to work on its global brand direction alongside its retained global agencies Ogilvy & Mather and Anomaly. Mindshare will also remain as Motorola’s retained media agency.

The review is being led out of Motorola’s US headquarters by William Ogle, the chief marketing officer for the mobile division.

Ogilvy has held lead global agency status on Motorola since September 2000 after winning the US$400 million pitch against Leo Burnett and McCann Erickson.

In January 2008, Motorola consolidated its US$300 million creative business for Europe, the Middle East and Africa into WPP to handle its advertising, direct and digital work.
