Bill Chan departs McCann Erickson Beijing

BEIJING - Bill Chan, executive creative director of McCann Erickson Beijing, is leaving the agency.

Bill Chan departs McCann Erickson Beijing
Sources suggest he will take on the top creative position at Ogilvy & Mather Beijing, which Nils Andersson vacated earlier this year.

Chan will assume the role of group executive director at the WPP agency.

A senior industry source in the market described Chan as being “very sought after”, pointing to his role in creating award-winning work for McCann since having joined last July.

His departure follows the merger of McCann’s and MRM’s creative teams in Beijing in June, which prompted MRM executive creative director Barry Wong to leave the agency. Chan assumed responsibility for MRM’s creative output as well as that of McCann.

Chan joined McCann from DraftFCB in Shanghai, where he also served as executive creative director. He has also held senior positions at JWT and Euro RSCG.

Andersson left his role at Ogilvy after a period of almost five years in July.
