Ravindranathan will be in charge of all the media group's websites, mobile, Bloomberg TV, digital video, live events and the three magazines across Asia-Pacific, a spokesperson said.

According to Bloomberg, this new leadership posting reflects the group's new strategy to expand its global media footprint beyond television to multiple media platforms. "Ravindranathan's appointment will ensure Bloomberg’s consumer media content, ad products, distribution and licensing deals are carefully tailored to serve each distinct, individual market," the company said in a release.

Prior to this appointment, Ravindranathan headed Asia-Pacific at Bloomberg TV for the past three years. He will continue to be based out of Hong Kong.

"We have an incredible opportunity right now to take Bloomberg Media to the next level of growth in Asia," said Ravindranathan. "There is a real opening for us in this region to make an impact with global and local audiences, and build a digital-led, multi-platform media company that will continue to invest and innovate for years to come."

The appointment underscores Bloomberg's major ambitions for Asia-Pacific, said Bloomberg Media CEO, Justin B. Smith. "Parry has proven himself to be one of Bloomberg Media’s most entrepreneurial leaders, with a keen eye for identifying opportunities for monetization and expansion. He is going to bring his leadership to all our platforms with an emphasis on developing our new digital channels and audiences."
