Launched today, Digital Discovery is available for download as a digital HTML5 magazine and an iPad app. Custom-built for Cathay by ACP Magazines, the e-version is optimised for usability across all devices from smartphones to Kindles and desktop computers.

The print version will continue to be available on board Cathay Pacific flights for readers to peruse during take-off and landing.

"The digital platform is meant to complement the magazine and benefit our passengers with additional interactive content," Alky Cheung, publishing director, ACP Magazines Asia told Campaign Asia-Pacific.

Extending the inflight magazine into a full-fledged travel and lifestyle publication and travel guide, the bilingual digital publication contains downloadable guides to the cities where Cathay Pacific ports, with up-to-date information on hotels, bars, restaurants and tourist spots.

The digital magazine will also have a special and more detailed section on Hong Kong, complete with videos of celebrities and business figures sharing their favourite palaces in Hong Kong.

"It allows readers to carry the brand of Cathay Pacific with them, and you don't have to fly on the plane to enjoy it," Cheung said.

The content is driven by writers who live in the cities and countries featured, said William Fraser, Discover editor-in-chief. "Digital Discovery draws on the respected editorial ethos of the print magazine, acting as a trusted, regularly updated content companion across all devices."
