According to an agency spokeswoman, in addition to managing Amadeus’ communication activities, Edelman will launch integrated initiatives for the brand across digital platforms, multimedia and social networks.

“Working with Amadeus will allow us to further develop our work with business-to-business digital communications as part of a fully integrated communications strategy,” said Jonathan Sanchez, regional director at Edelman.

Amadeus is a technology partner for providers, sellers and buyers of travel, offering electronic-ticketing and e-travel management services, headquarted in Madrid. According to the company, its customer groups include travel providers - such as airlines, hotels, car rental companies, railway companies, ferry and cruise liners, insurance companies and tour operators - travel agencies and corporations and travellers.

The company further services 3,500 corporations worldwide, including Kraft Foods, Phillip Morris International, Nokia Siemens Networks, Volvo, Daimler, France Telecom and Bosch.

According to a company release, Amadeus Asia-Pacific had 51 per cent market share of all online travel agency bookings in the region as of September 2009. Last year, Amadeus claimed to have 1,400 employees across Asia-Pacific and opened new offices in Koh Samui, Thailand and Yangon, Myanmar.
