Broadband service ESPN Player will provide on-demand online access to world-class sports and programming, offering both live and archived events throughout the year. In addition, it will also allow viewers to watch their favourite sport while sharing comments with their friends on social networking platforms like Facebook.

Some of the programmes lined up in July include the British, German and Hungarian Grand Prix, The Open Championship and the friendly match between Manchester United and the Major League Soccer (MLS) All Stars.

Manu Sawhney, managing director of ESPN STAR Sports, said: “We are driven to serve sports fans across the region by creating new, relevant and innovative offerings to engage with their favourite sports."

He added: "We are pleased to have a valued partner in SingTel who shares our commitment to go the extra mile and give Singapore fans the very best in sports content and interactivity.

Said Edward Ying, chief of content and media services at SingTel: “SingTel mio TV is fast gaining traction in the sports broadcasting arena. We are certain that the two new additions will bring the experience for sports fans in Singapore up yet another notch.”

ESPN Player and ESPN HD will launch in other Asian markets in the upcoming months.
