Chan will lead all of the station's talents in order to clarify current events for the Hong Kong people, according to Commercial Radio. Chan (pictured), said in a press interview yesterday that Hong Kong is in a nebulous state at the moment, and he hopes the broadcaster can bring out the facts and provide analysis for the public.

Winnie Yu Tsang, former CEO of Commerical Radio Hong Kong between 1997 to 2004, was promoted to the deputy chairwoman role in 2004, and the CEO role has been vacant since then.

Commercial Radio's reach extends beyond the airwaves in Hong Kong. The company launched its Hong Kongtoolbar iphone App last year, providing live streaming for both local and overseas fans of its radio programmes and news. The app also supports online voting and interaction between users and advertisers like Adidas, Microsoft, Puma, Yahoo, HTC, Nokia and Nike.

A high-profile TV industry veteran in Hong Kong, Chan surprised the media industry by confirming his resignation from TVB on 9 December after serving the company for 18 years. Last September, the Hong Kong District Court cleared Chan of bribery allegations after an investigation by the ICAC.

Chan was executive assistant to the director and general manager at Commerical Radio Hong Kong in 1992, before joining TVB in 1994 as programme controller. He was a popular radio host for RTHK in the 1980s while he was an administrative officer for the Hong Kong government.
