This follows the appointment of Publicis as Expedia’s creative agency of record for the online travel giant’s continued expansion in the region. Carat will be responsible for boosting the impact of its marketing and branding strategies, and ensuring Expedia maximises the reach of its media investment across key markets.

Dan Lynn, head of Expedia Asia, said the selection of Carat takes the company another step closer to delivering the widest selection of great value deals to the travellers of Southeast Asia.

“Carat has a great understanding of travellers, and it’s important that we partner with a media agency that can help us spread the fantastic message of Expedia,” said Lynn.

Aegis Media Asia Pacific’s chief client officer Sean O'Brien said that while Expedia has a well established brand presence in Europe and North America, the challenge is to replicate that exceptional success here in Asia, whilst pursuing other exciting opportunities across the region.

Since entering the Southeast Asian market in late 2010, Expedia has launched localised sites in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, and has entered in to a joint venture with low cost airline, AirAsia, to become the exclusive online home of its flights.
