Currently there are two models of the Panda brand being sold at the online store, which officially opened today.

The online store's targeted consumers are the young genration aged between 20 and 35.

“Our online store on Taobao Mall could offer 7/24 opening business hours to our customers,” said Li Shu Fu, CEO of Geely Automobile. “It costs over RMB10 million (US$1,504,405) to open a new retail showroom, and we need to sell at least 1,000 cars per month to break even. The operating costs would be much cheaper to open an online shop.”

Geely, the Zhejiang-based China auto car giant, brought the Swedish car brand Volvo in 2009.

In September, Mercedes-Benz ran a 'group buing' online campaign on Taobao Mall and sold 200 Smart cars within three hours and 28 minutes.
