Gerhard Zeiler to join Turner Broadcasting International as president

GLOBAL - CEO of the RTL group Gerhard Zeiler will join Turner Brodcasting System International as president starting in May. He will be based in London and will report to Phil Kent, chairman and CEO of TBS.

In his new role, Zeiler will lead a 3,800-person team across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America. He will also have executive oversight for all entertainment and kids networks and media services offered outside of North America; the distribution and commercial operations of CNN’s international services; all of Turner Broadcasting’s international joint ventures; and all licensing and merchandising activity.

Turner Broadcasting operates more than 130 channels in more than 30 languages in some 200 countries. Some of these brands include CNN, TNT, and Cartoon Network. 
 
Commenting on the appointment, Kent said, "We look forward to the leadership, perspective and wealth of international television experience he (Zeiler) will bring to one of the most strategically important areas of our company."
 
During Zeiler's nine-year career as CEO of the RTL Group, he successfully expanded its international footprint across Western Europe and into Croatia and grew its holdings to 41 channels and 34 radio stations in 10 countries.
