Schloss will be leading an expanding corporate communications business, including engagements in corporate reputation, issues and crisis management, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and business-to-business communications.
He will report to Jeremy Walker, managing director of Golin Harris Hong Kong.
Prior to a new role, Schloss was with Fidelity as head of corporate communication for APAC. Previously, he was the regional director of corporate communications for APAC and deputy managing director at Hill & Knowlton Hong Kong.
He has provided counsel to companies in the financial, energy, technology, healthcare and FMCG sectors, as well as leading conglomerates.
Schloss has 17 years of experience at the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong and The Courier-Mail in Australia.
“Schloss’s media skill for Asia and Hong Kong, as well as his crisis management skill, is an addition to our practice,” Jonathan Hughes, international president for Asia, told Campaign Asia-Pacific. “The current corporate communications is about managing reputation in real-time. As a long-time journalist, Schloss will be able to help us spot the current issues, trends and hot topics.”
Schloss said that corporate communications is changing quickly from the reactive stance of companies tending to shy away from engaging externally to a more proactive stance, where leading businesses embrace stakeholders and even collaborate with groups such as NGOs.
