2017 marked the 120th anniversary of Kempinski, one of the industry’s foremost hotel groups, and Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai rung in the milestone by opening the Songshan meeting room in October.

The newly outfitted, pillarless room provides 87sqm of space for events, with natural light pouring in from floor to ceiling thanks to picture windows. A highlight of the space’s layout, the Songshan boasts panoramic views of both the North Bund on the hotel’s north face, and the Bund to west.

Suitable for a range of events, the rooms welcomes corporate seminars and private dinners alike, accommodating groups of up to 80 for cocktails, 45 theatre-style, 50 for banquet seating, 45 classroom-style or 36 in a U-shape arrangement.

The Songshan is just the latest development in what is one of Shanghai’s most prominent hotel property’s for events. Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai offers a total of 1,850sqm of events spaces, including the Suncuba Grand Ballroom, accommodating up to 720 for cocktail receptions.

Eight additional meeting rooms are on-site, with three newly renovated function rooms that can host larger groups of up to 200, or smaller, intimate events. The property also sports a skilled service team who make the absolute most of the hotel’s assets.

Tapping into the digital component of live events, Kempinski has also invested in tech to put their full range of accommodation on display. An interactive, 360 degree view of the hotel, its events spaces, restaurants, lounge, pool and guest rooms are all available here.

Centrally located in the Lijiazui financial and trade section of the prestigious Pudong district, and nestled alongside the Huangpu River, Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai is set in a choice location for groups looking to get the most out China’s fastest-growing metropolis.

The 468m Oriental Pearl Tower is just across from the hotel, offering sky-high views of the Shanghai skyline. Just across the Huangpu is the Bund, the “museum of buildings” is composed of colonial-era structures that have stood the test of time, now serving as landmarks of Shanghai’s unique history.

Several favourite local establishments call the Bund home, including the famed Bund Tea Company Chinese, a tea salon and shop still operating in its traditional form; and Three on the Bund, a cultural complex housing high-end restaurants, private clubs with live music, and the Shanghai Gallery of Art.

River cruises of the Bund waterfront are also available for groups, and can be booked on-site or ahead of time.
